Same processor clock speed, same amount of RAM, smaller screen (15"), slower hard drive.
Still WAY faster than my old 17" so far with the i7 chip.

Kinda sucks losing the screen real estate. (My max res is now 1680x1050 instead of 1920x1200) The colour looks a tiny bit better though.

Main reason was for the smaller size though.
I just got tired of the weight and size of the 17"

Gonna take a bit of getting used to the new design. New keyboard, new trackpad, new plugs.
Sure hope I don't regret the loss in screen size.

Got the anti-glare screen too.

lucky man I'm planning on getting that specific type of Macbook Pro as well. A 1.5ghz Core 2 Dupp vs a 2.8ghz i7, hmmmm what do you think, upgrade time yet xD. But i'm still debatting if I should. Macbooks are upgraded usually 7-8 months (this time it took it 10 months but thats rare), basically it's either the Mid-Spring 2010 models, or see if i should see if they come out with late-2010 models with a little bit of improvements. What do you think?

All I know is I love the physical size decrease. The screen size isn't bothering me as much as I thought it would. Performance is noticeably snappier.

Still have to sell my "old" 17" now. Gotta figure out it's current value and get it on eBay.

i7 is well worth it over i5 from what I hear. Now is a great time to buy I think. (obviously. :-P)

You're 2008 17" could easily do over $1500 USD, but just check on ebay and see what you get. And thanks, this helps alot, now time to save the funds xP

they are good machines. I got the anti-glare too, for my late 2009 MBP. Def. glad I did that. Way better and easier to see than those glossy screens.

I actually got them to give me the one I have now for free. Gotta love when Apple replaces an early 2008 MBP that craps out with a brand new late 2009 MBP with 5 X better specs. *wink*

did you get an i5 or i7?
mines still a Core DUO (in the 15", i7, 512 video - series), but i might go for another replacement. LOL *wink*

damn nice!

that's what i want them to replace my current Duo with. I had a bad screen that was DAO (and needed a total clutch assembly replacement) when I got my new 2009 so i already have a great excuse for getting a replacement. and since i'm already in the 512 video series they have to replace with a 15" i7. I'm just waiting till they work out all the bugs in the i# series i've been reading about. And I'm waiting until I can convince them give me a free switch from SATA to SSD. I convinced them to up my video ram from 256 to 512 last time I'll just have to work my magic one more time.

How are you liking the i7 series?

i've read they can be buggy. be interested to hear what experience you've been having with them.

also:
did you go 4 or 8 GB?
SDD or SATA?
